If anything were to affect us in coffee, it would be the caffeine in the coffee as this is the only property which affects us mentally as well as physically. Waking up to a fresh cup of coffee is a good way to stimulate your sense and prepare you for the rest of the day.
With this mind, can too much coffee be bad for you or do we reap benefits from consuming coffee on a daily basis? I personally go through 8 cups of coffee a day, so the following research came as a welcome surprise to me as well as to you once you have finished reading.
First of all lets look at the facts about coffee which has been researched by scientists:
- A 170ml cup of brewed coffee (Drip feed) contains 150mg of caffeine. Instant coffee in a jar contains 65mg of caffeine. Your standard decaffeinated coffee contains up to 35mg of caffeine per measurement.
- Drinking at least 2 cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of liver disease by up to 60%
- Coffee has been found to protect you’re body from liver cirrhosis, which is normally related to drinking too much alcohol
- Drinking at least 3 cups of coffee a day also reduces the risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease by up to 50 %.
As you would agree these are some interesting facts to consider. For those that are not aware, caffeine is property found in coffee and many soft drinks, which stimulates the heart and central nervous system. This is turn provides us with that alert and awake feeling once we have consumed something that contains caffeine.
It has not been researched in the long term what the effects of caffeine could have on the body, but the effects seem positive for the short term. This is great news for coffee and tea lovers all over the world, but can too much of something good be bad for you? Who knows?
